There are gazebos, a softball field, volleyball court, a boat dock and a full service snack bar complete with bait and tackle for fishing. There are eight campsites, an amphitheater, restrooms, and horse corrals at the bottom of the dam. The campground is only accessible via horseback or by hiking one mile in on a moderately difficult trail. Poway is also home to the Poway Center for the Performing Arts.

Poway schools are among the best in California. Not only is the high school strong academically, but the marching band and jazz bands frequently wins top honors as does the wrestling team.
